Graduate Student Commencement

Decked out in black gowns and adorned mortar boards, students across Connecticut, and as far away as Nepal and Pakistan, said they felt excited as they prepared to usher in a new phase of their lives. Four hundred and five students were awarded master's degrees, and 22 students received their advance study certificates at Fairfield University's 61st commencement ceremony on Sunday, May 22 at Bellarmine Hall lawn. Fairfield University's Graduate School of Education and Allied Professions offers advanced training certificates beginning this summer

Beginning this summer, Fairfield University's Graduate School of Education and Allied Professions (GSEAP) will offer five new Advanced Training Certificates (ATC) for professionals who wish to enhance their skills and broaden their career horizons. The new certificates are: Applied Behavior Analysis, Early Childhood Studies, Integration of Spirituality & Religion in Counseling, School-Based Marriage & Family Therapy, and Substance Abuse Counseling. Fairfield University graduate students honored for their community service

Fairfield's inaugural Graduate Students Service Awards inspired all in attendance on Friday evening, April 29. Family, friends, fellow graduate students, faculty, and school administrators gathered in the Charles F. Dolan School of Business to honor five of Fairfield's "servant leaders" - all of whom, as described by Rev. Paul J. Fitzgerald, S.J., senior vice president for academic affairs, "lead with humility and generosity and great example." Read more.

2011 Library Research Prize for Graduate Students

Congratulations to Anika Walker and Deborah Boyhen for winning the 2011 Library Research Prize for Graduate Students. Anika and Deborah were awarded the prize for their research for their paper "Interactive Stories: Below Grade Level Readers" for their Research in Educational Technology class. Their faculty supporter Dr. Elizabeth Langren writes, "Certainly (their work) is both original and in a very important area worthy of exploration. Excellent collaborative approach, these two certainly show potential for further work in this area of action research in educational technology."

Fairfield University's Bellarmine Museum of Art participates in Blue Star Museum initiative to support nation's military families

The Bellarmine Museum of Art at Fairfield University is joining with 1,300 other museums across America to pay tribute to military personnel and their families, by participating in the Blue Star Museums partnership, an initiative of the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) and the Blue Star Families organization. The program provides free museum admission to all active duty military personnel and their families from Memorial Day through Labor Day, 2011. Read more.
