The Incredible Hulls

Mandurah's First Water Orchestra - A Community Rhythm Performance

On Saturday 4th May 2013, Mandurah’s waterways will explode with the high-energy rhythms and sounds of The Incredible Hulls, a large-scale community musical performance led by Graeme Leak.

The Incredible Hulls is a large-scale community piece for boats, divided into parts for sailboats, motorboats and small craft (rowboats, centre boards, dinghies, kayaks etc.). Boats moored together form an ensemble, and their owners and crew follow signals to make certain sounds at certain times.

Melbourne-based acclaimed performer, composer and instrument maker Graeme Leak has an extensive background in percussion and drumming, and is said to be one of the most inventive and creative minds in Australian music today. We welcome him to Mandurah as part of the Stretch Festival 2013.

.

Expressions of Interest

The Festival Team invites YOU to participate in this amazing, nautical, musical event held on our spectacular waterways, from your floating vessel or from the shore.

The piece depends upon the willing participation of boats owners, who are the ‘performers’ in the floating ‘orchestra’.

If you would like to express an interest in being part of this event, or just want further details, please email the Arts Festival team at stretch@mandurah.wa.gov.au
